Breasts implants, particularly those in the subglandular placement, can interfere with mammogram readings. Women with implants should be sure to tell the mammogram technician that they have implants. Calcium deposits can form around the implant and be misdiagnosed as cancer, in which case the implant may need to be removed in order to determine the presence of cancer.
