As with all types of surgery, liposuction does carry some risks. These may include the following: asymmetry, bagginess or rippling of the skin, fluid retention, infection, pigmentation changes, skin injury, and excessive fluid loss leading to shock. UAL carries the additional risk of thermal burn injury, while tumescent liposuction carries the additional risks of fluid collection in the lungs and lidocaine toxicity.
