• Breast augmentation was the third most performed cosmetic surgery by ASPS member surgeons in 2004, just below rhinoplasty and liposuction. 
• ASPS member surgeons performed 264,041 breast augmentation procedures in 2004, a 4% increase from the previous year.
• Women aged 18 and younger made up 2% of the total breast augmentation procedures with 3,962 procedures, a 3% increase from the previous year
• Women aged 19 to 34 made up 50% of the total breast augmentation procedures with 130,700 procedures, a 15% increase from the previous year.
• Women aged 35 to 50 made up 42% of the total breast augmentation procedures with 110,897 procedures, a 3% decrease from the previous year.
• Women aged 51 to 64 made up 6% of the total breast augmentation procedures with 15,842 procedures, an 18% decrease from the previous year.
• Women aged 65 and over made up 1% of the total breast augmentation procedures with 2,640 procedures, a 5% decrease from the previous year.
• The national average surgeon/physician fee for breast augmentation among ASPS member surgeons in 2004 was $3,373. All members in total charged $890,610,293 for breast augmentation procedures. * These fees are averages only and do not include other related expenses such as those for anesthesia or operating room facilities.
• 35,208 breast implant removal procedures were performed by ASPS member surgeons in 2004, a 22% decrease from the previous year.
• 75,805 breast lift procedures were performed by ASPS member surgeons in 2004, a 14% increase from the previous year.
• 13,963 male breast reduction procedures were performed by ASPS member surgeons in 2004, a 4% decrease from the previous year.
