Recently, the mainstream media has been focusing on teenagers receiving plastic surgery due to bullying alluding to the fact that this trend is becoming very popular. However, statistics from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) show that plastic surgery for teenagers (men/women under the age of 18) has decreased over the past few years. Teenagers receiving plastic surgery in 2010 represented only 1.3% of the total plastic surgery procedures performed. Compared to 2001, where teenagers represented 3.5% of the total plastic surgery procedures performed.
