We’ve all had a passing thought, in some way or another, on how the continuing downward economy will affect our lives. For some, it has meant the loss of a job, for others exciting new opportunities, and then there are an emerging group of others to whom the economy has shifted their beauty routine!?!?!? That’s right, I’ll say that again in case it went over your head, the economy has changed some people’s beauty routine. We’ve seen this theme centered throughout the mainstream news & media in spurts throughout the past two years. At first, there were stories with interviews of women considering cosmetic surgery to get ahead in their career, but this was all qualitative information and no official study had been done to show that this was actually an emerging trend. But recently, there was a survey published in the Sidney Morning Herald which revealed that one fifth of working women in Australia had considered getting cosmetic surgery to advance their career. And just last week, beauty guru Wendy Lewis wrote an article for Health News Digest about how men have been notching up their beauty habits (also to compete in the workplace). So, we’d like to pose the question, “How was the economy changed your beauty routine?”
One thing is for sure, the constant factor in everyone’s life the past few years has been “change“. And change is exciting!
