Dr. Philip Miller, MD, FACS offers the innovative G.I. Jaw™ procedure at his New York City practice. The G.I. Jaw procedure enhances a man’s jawline creating a classical chiseled jaw, a hallmark of masculinity.
The G.I. Jaw™ Procedure
Prior to Dr. Miller’s G.I. Jaw™ procedure, the most popular methods for enhancing the lower bone structure of the face were through the use of implants or invasive jaw surgery. Jaw and chin implants can be composed of a variety of biocompatible materials that are customized to best accentuate a patient’s existing features. The implants can change the lower facial shape, elongate the face, and create greater projection from a profile view. Often times, implant procedures are performed alongside rhinoplasty to create the best relationship among the protruding features, or dermal injections to provide temporary improvement with increased volume in regions of the face.
Dr. Miller’s G.I. Jaw technique focuses on outlining the jawline with techniques that enhance existing structures and supplement regions of deficiencies. In doing so, the angle of the mandible and area underneath the jaw are etched to become a sharper jawline. Materials are not always implanted in the area as the overlying tissue can be reshaped during this procedure to appear more prominent without interfering with the bony structure and undergoing a prolonged recovery period. In men who request a reshaping of the lower face, the G.I. Jaw™ procedure is ideal. Interested candidates can learn more about the procedure by contacting the doctor’s office or scheduling an in-person consultation at Dr. Miller’s NYC office.
Why Enhance the Jawline?
Biologically speaking, the studied evolution of a strong jawline was advantageous to attract members of the opposite sex for the purpose of mating, which is due to the higher levels of testosterone that produce this look. A hallmark of a masculine appearance is a well-defined lower face. This includes the jaw, chin, and the submental area below the chin. The brow has also been said to be an important characteristic for this specific attraction. Strengthening the jawline not only adds to a man’s sex appeal and overall looks, but the enhanced feature can make a man appear more confident and fit. Men tend to be slightly larger than women (by approximately 15%), and display other gender-specific traits that appeal to the opposite sex. Similar studies are not yet available in same-sex male couples.
Candidates for G.I. Jaw™
Men seeking a shapelier jawline who are satisfied with the existing volume of the area may be eligible to undergo the G.I. Jaw™ facial plastic surgery procedure. Prospective patients should be healthy without any conditions that would complicate the surgery or healing process. Though Dr. Miller can utilize computer software during consultations to help patients visualize potential results, individuals should be aware of limitations imposed by their own anatomy and cosmetic medicine.
