Your
First Consultation
Our
initial meeting will be a time for your questions
to be answered and for you to obtain as much
information about what might be done to improve
certain problems. We will obtain a detailed
medical history, discuss your concerns at
length, perform a thorough examination of
your bony structure, facial muscle tone and
skin, and give you an opinion on what might
be done to improve the problems at hand. Plan
to spend between thirty minutes and one hour
on this first visit. Very frequently photographs
will be taken of you during this first meeting
which might help illustrate what the current
problems are and what can be done to improve
upon them. These will become part of your
confidential medical record. Computer imaging
may also be offered as a way to educate you
as to the possibilities of improvement and
as a tool to improve our communication. If
you have seen other surgeons, rest assured
that any information you give us regarding
your experiences with them will remain strictly
confidential.
Your
Second Consultation
You
will benefit most from your second consultation
if you have jotted down any questions you
might have. If you have decided to proceed
with surgery, the second consultation will
outline the details of the surgery, the risks
involved, the expected results, and what you
should expect during healing. Computer images
will be reviewed during this discussion. Rest
assured that all your questions will be answered
to the fullest. A surgery date will be set,
and you will receive detailed preoperative
and postoperative instructions.
