Times Square in New York City

Times Square, also known as the Theater District, is quite possible the most famous area of New York City simply due to its extravagant environment with constantly shining lights. At any time of the day, there will be throngs of people trying to take an Instagram ready photo. In addition to the bright lights and large crowds, there is usually some sort of exciting street performance going on. They can range from cool dance performances all the way to strange people posing as statues. However, it is worth noting that you should be careful if a person dressed up as a superhero such as Spiderman approaches you to take a photo. This is because they often ask for a tip or monetary compensation after you take a photo.

Times Square actually got its name due to the New York Times moving into the Times Building, but it is really known as the Theater District due to the performance venues surrounding the area. The list of theaters around Times Square is endless, but a couple that are noteworthy are the Times Square Theater, Broadway Theater, New Amsterdam Theater, Palace Theater, New Victory Theater, and Minskoff Theater. These theaters host a variety of shows that are both live and broadcasted on television. For example, the Broadway Theater is famous for the Broadway musicals that they show, while other theaters could host television shows such as America’s got Talent where there is also a huge live audience.

In addition to the cool theaters in Times Square, there is a plethora of unique shops in the area to go souvenir shopping after you visit the amazing universities in New York. The M&M’s shop is a massive shop that has all sorts of M&M’s souvenirs, snacks, foods, and memorabilia that one can take back home for themselves or for friends. Additionally, for those traveling overseas, they may be familiar with the LINE Friends store, which is a store based around the popular asian messaging application that has a whole culture of characters around it.

Times Square is also home to exotic exhibits that people can stop by for a quick visit. People from all parts of town such as SoHO, Brooklyn, or Harlem, love to come visit the interesting spots of Times Square. The Ripley’s Believe it or Not in Times Square has a plethora of exhibits about crazy things in this world. This can be anything from incredible human feats all the way to unique and strange technological innovations. The Gulliver’s Gate on the other hand is an exhibit that was constructed of all little objects. This means that there are miniature sculptures of famous locations and monuments to replicate the experience Gulliver had in the famous book.
