MicroLift and MicroLift+ in New York City

Have you ever noticed how nice your face looks when your hair is in a ponytail? The skin is pulled taut, fine lines become smooth, cheeks appear more prominent, and the edges of your eyes are slightly lifted. Many women have seen this difference and asked themselves, “Why can’t I look like this all the time?” Fortunately, with one of today’s most innovative procedures, there is no reason you cannot.

Philip Miller, MD, FACS, offers patients in Manhattan, New York, the cutting-edge MicroLift™, designed to mimic the improved appearance that comes with pulled-back hair. The minimally-invasive procedure is relatively comfortable, quick, and performed under local anesthesia. Perfect for busy women not ready for a full facelift or who do not want the commitment of a long recovery.

How Does Dr. Miller Perform a MicroLift & MicroLift+?

MicroLift uses a small incision hidden within the hairline to elevate and reposition facial skin and tissue upward and backward. Designed for patients with earlier signs of aging and less skin laxity, it can improve cheek descent, early jowling, and reduced jawline definition.

MicroLift+ treats the same areas but uses a slightly different incision that allows Dr. Miller to remove excess skin when appropriate. It is generally better suited for patients with more noticeable facial laxity who need additional refinement.

Who is a Candidate for MicroLift and MicroLift+?

Candidates for MicroLift or MicroLift+ may be experiencing cheek descent, jowling, reduced jawline definition, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, or facial skin laxity. During a consultation, Dr. Miller evaluates the degree of aging, cheek position, jawline structure, neck changes, skin quality, and overall facial anatomy to determine which procedure is most appropriate.

MicroLift is generally better suited for patients with earlier signs of aging and less skin laxity, while MicroLift+ may be recommended for those with more noticeable laxity or excess skin. As with any cosmetic surgery, patients should be in generally good health and have realistic expectations for the procedure and recovery.

MicroLift & MicroLift+ FAQs

Q: How Do I Prepare for the MicroLift in New York?

A: During the initial office visit, Dr. Miller will review your medical history, do a brief physical exam, and discuss your needs and goals. At this time, he will help you determine whether the microlift is the right fit for your specific needs.
During the consultation, Dr. Miller will explain the microlift procedure and the recovery process. If you have any questions, contact our office at any time.

Q: What is the Recovery from a MicroLift Like?

A: The microlift is a minimally-invasive procedure, requiring little downtime. Patients may notice minor swelling and redness at the incision site immediately following surgery, but this will quickly fade. On the rare chance bruising occurs, it will likely resolve in about one week. The microlift results in very little discomfort, although tightness or temporary numbness in the cheek area may occur. Patients are usually able to return to work or school within a couple of days of their procedure.

Q: What is the Difference Between MicroLift and MicroLift+?

A: MicroLift and MicroLift+ address similar areas of the midface, lower face, and jawline, but they are designed for different degrees of facial aging. MicroLift is generally recommended for patients with earlier signs of aging and less skin laxity, while MicroLift+ uses a slightly different incision that allows Dr. Miller to remove excess skin when appropriate.

Q: How Do I know Whether MicroLift or MicroLift+ is Right for Me?

A: Dr. Miller determines the most appropriate procedure during a personalized consultation. He evaluates factors such as cheek position, jawline definition, skin quality, facial laxity, neck changes, and overall anatomy before recommending MicroLift, MicroLift+, or another facial rejuvenation option.

Q: What Are the Benefits of the Facelift Using the Micro Technique?

A: A micro facelift provides several benefits, including mimicking the effect of having a ponytail, to patients considering rejuvenating their appearance. These benefits include:

  • Addresses early signs of aging
  • Lifts the midface
  • Delays the need for more extensive surgery
  • Offers a minimally-invasive option
  • Requires local anesthesia instead of general
  • Involves shorter incisions than traditional facelifts
  • Offers a shorter recovery time

Q: How is a Micro Facelift Different from a Regular Facelift?

A: The placement of incisions differentiates a micro facelift from a regular facelift.

A regular facelift involves longer incisions around the ear and into the scalp. This allows the surgeon to remove loose skin, lift the lower face, and improve advanced signs of aging in the neck.

A micro facelift is minimally-invasive and involves one incision behind the ear. Surgery targets the upper two-thirds of the face. Because it is not as extensive as a regular facelift, the recovery time is shorter.
