ABC News Story of Mother Injecting Daughter with Botox May be a Hoax

Filed under: cosmetic surgery — Tags: — Natalie @ 10:35 am

Last week we blogged regarding a story about a mother, “Kerry Campbell”, who appeared on an ABC News story because she was giving her 8-year old daughter Botox injections to compete in beauty pageants. This story had become a viral sensation leaving many people outraged and bloggers and tweeters chatting up a storm (even we found it to be peculiar). However, in a strange twist this story may have actually been a hoax. According to TMZ.com, a woman by the name of Sheena Upton said in a sworn declaration to a California court that the tabloid newspaper called, “The Sun” paid her $200 to pose under a pseudonym “Kerry Campbell” and fabricate this story. The Sun denies claims they knowingly published a false story & Sherry Upton made these claims to the California court after Child Protection Services intervened. Sherry Upton was quoted saying, “The truth is that I have never given my daughter Botox, nor allowed her to get any type of waxing, nor is she a beauty pageant contestant.” Additionally, her daughter was examined by a doctor at UCLA & it was confirmed that she never received Botox. This story appears to be getting stranger by the day.
