Architecture in New York
With New York having such a long history and being the financial capital of the country, they have come to have some amazing architectural masterpieces such as their buildings and bridges. Tourists from all around the world make it a goal to visit at least one of these structures just to marvel at how beautiful they are. Fortunately, they are scattered all around manhattan, so no matter where you are, you are bound to be close to one.
The Empire State Building, possibly the most famous skyscraper in the world, is located in Midtown Manhattan right by Madison Square Garden. It was formerly the tallest skyscraper in the city, but regardless, people all around the world are familiar with it. However, the Empire State Building is more than just an architectural masterpiece. It is an office space for some of the world’s most notable businesses to do work and create productivity, but surely, the rent is extremely expensive.
Another marvelous skyscraper in New York is New York by Gehry, which was designed by the famous architect Frank Gehry. This building has wild curves and edges that make it very fun to stare at and wonder how the building was able to be built in a stable manner. Frank Gehry’s architectural style can also be seen at the Walt Disney Concert Hall which also shares a similar appearance.
Stepping away from tall skyscrapers, the Vessel, which is located in the lower west side of Manhattan near Hell's Kitchen, is a beautiful piece of architecture that can be entered by any visitor. It is a part of the Hudson Yards shopping center, and is a series of staircases connected in the shape of a cone. The entire structure has bronze accents, and creates a beautiful appearance due to the many different angles that the sunlight strikes it throughout the day. Construction began in 2017 and was completed in March of 2019, and it quickly attracted many visitors.
In addition to the amazing buildings, due to the geographical nature of New York, they also implement many bridges to connect the different portions of the state.
